02 Jun, 2017

The group which has been pretending to be a leading life insurance company in the French speaking sub-sahara Africa for four years is soon going to open a branch in Congo. The group is composed of 23 affiliates and partners in Africa.

On Friday, June 2, 2017, the deputy general manager of the group, Mr. Mohamed BAH, a national of Guinea, met the Minister of Finance, budget and Public Portfolio, honourable Calixte Nganongo.

At the meeting, Mr. Mohamed BAH said that in the field of insurance in Congo, all customers needs are not met. He thinks that the congolese insurance market is promising. Soon after the issuance of a compliance notice by the Insurance Markets international Conference (IMIC) due for July 2017 and the approval of the Ministry of Finance of Congo, the group will then open its branch in the Congolese capital city.

The first year, the branch plan is to start its activities with a reduced staff of 10 people for an investment amounting to 1,7 billion CFA francs. After four or five years after its opening, the branch will access to the status of a subsidiary corporation, with a minimum capital of 5 billion CFA francs in accordance with the requirements of IMIC.

Minister Calixte Nganongo declared that a new insurance company benefits the Congolese economy at a time of its diversification.

The SUNU Assurances group was created in 1999 in Cote d'Ivoire where its head office is located. Its ambition is to become a panafrican insurance leading company based on its assets.
