IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings
From Monday 10 to Wednesday 19 October 2022, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) are holding their Annual General Meetings in Washington, the federal capital of the United States. The Republic of Congo is represented by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE.
Shortly before the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE, had a working session with the members of the delegation accompanying him, in the premises of the Embassy of Congo in the USA.
This working session focused on the challenges of these meetings for Congo. The Minister Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE recalled the orientations of the President of the Republic, Denis SASSOU-N'GUESSO.These orientations concern, in particular, the interest to consolidate the Congo's achievements in its relations with these two international financial institutions.
During this meeting, Minister Jean-Baptiste ONDAYE strongly said that "the purpose of our mission in Washington is Congo.... We are here like an army at the front, and the meaning of our front is the completion of our programmes with the two Bretton Woods institutions".
The Minister of Economy and Finance ended his speech by inviting the members of his delegation to make themselves available in the elaboration of strategies likely to lead the Congo to the renewal of its confidence with its two financial partners.
