The Director of the Forecast and Statistics, Lucie Sakala, representing the Director General of Customs and Indirects taxes, Guénolé Mbongo Koumou, in partnership with the company Webb Fontaine-Congo, represented by its Managing Director, Marco Franchi, launched, Friday 8 February 2019 at Pointe-Noire, the functioning of the e-customs portal and the Prior Import Declaration (DPI), to facilitate the procedures of customs clearance.

This launch is part of the facilitation and customs dematerialization project, initiated by the Minister of Finance and Budget

On this occasion, the Director of Information Systems (DSI), Guy Noël Londongo, made a communication to raise public awareness and present the e-customs portaland the Prior Import Declaration(DPI), before more than 200 customs officers, importers and certified customs agents.

The e-customs portal and DPI aim at  modernizing the system of control and valuation of Imports and Exports at the customs cordon in the Republic of Congo.

The benefits of the e-customs portal

The use of the e-customs portalis completely free for economic operators. Besides, they will no longer travel to carry out their procedures. To add to it, the fact that e-cutsoms guarantees the traceability of operations carried out, as well as the speed in obtaining the documents.

Concerning the administration, the e-customs application dematerializes the related procedures and documents; enables the tracking and management of transactions in real time; facilitates operations and secures tax revenue.

However, economic operators, although satisfied with this umpteenth application launched after GUD, have deplored the multiplicity of applications. They propose a single application so that they do not get confused anymore during customs clearance procedures.

It should be noted that a training seminar for customs officers and economic operators on e-customs and DPI, began on Monday 11 February 2019 in the economic capital of Congo-Brazzaville.
