E-Pay, first online payment platform for duties and taxes launched in Pointe-Noire

24 Oct, 2019

The Director of Information Systems of the Ministry of Finance and Budget, Guy Noël Londongo, launched Thursday October 24, 2019, in Pointe-Noire, the Electronic Payment Platform of duties and taxes, called E-Pay.

This new electronic payment gateway will allow economic operators and importers to make payments of all duties and taxes (customs, tax and other) in a secure, fast and easy way.

Two payment methods exist for the moment on this platform: payment via Netbanking, a solution of the Postal bank of Congo (BPC), and payment via Mobile money, a service of payment of duties and taxes from epay Congo, using their phone number with a mobile electronic payment account.

On this occasion, users raised several problems, among them the difficulties of internet connection, the absence of machines in customs services, and the limitation of the amount of supply and mobile payment not exceeding 750,000 FCFA per day.

In response, “the recurring problem of internet connection does not necessarily arise.  Because with Airtel money, these operations can be done from your mobile phone”, Charles Tra Bi, Directeur d’Airtel money said.

Concerning the inadequacy of customs machines, the Director of Information Systems reassured users that the hierarchy is working on finding solutions.

As regards the limitation of supply mobile payment, “this daily limitation is a directive of the Central Bank. However, this limitation applies only to the accounts of individual subscribers. Corporations or companies can carry out transactions beyond 750,000 FCFA”, the Airtel money manager said.

Let's recall that the launch of E-PAY in Pointe-Noire comes two weeks after that of Brazzaville, sponsored by Calixte Nganongo, Minister of Finance and Budget, who had invited the other financial structures to voluntarily sign their support for this reform.

Note that the ceremony of Pointe-Noire was attended by Théodora Maoungou, Secretary General of the Postal Bank of Congo (BPC), Marlène Mpassi, Airtel money Manager, as well as many conomic operators, freight forwarders and customs agents.
