On Saturday, December 2, 2017 the head office of the Congolaise de gestion de loterie - Cogelo in Bacongo (second district of Brazzaville) experienced a particular event. The general manager of the company, Martial Djimbi Makoundi, officially handed out a symbolic cheque to the Congolese lucky winner of the quinté +, Daniel Irénée Bansimba Loubaki. The horse racing took place on last Monday, November 27 at the race track in the city of Cabourg (France).
The ceremony took place in the presence of many bettors who had wanted to take part in the event. The lucky bettor had placed a 400 CFA francs bet in order to win the order of the quinte+. He was lucky by using the following order : 11, 5, 12, 3 et 2. This order of arrival of the first five horses out of 14 participating horses enabled him to win 2,222,500 CFA. He also won the jackpot of the quinte + amounting to 12 million CFA francs. The amount was announced in the daily horse racing paper called INFO COGELO COURSE (n°329/17) issued on Monday, November 27, 2017.
A long standing bettor of COGELO, Daniel Irenee Bansimba Loubaki expressed his joy : " I did not know that I could win such an amount of money. But I trust God. I am very happy to be the winner".
As a fervent servant of God and of the State, the general manager of the Cogelo first congratulated the winner for taking the risk of playing the game at the time when Congo-Brazzaville was experiencing a difficult financial situation. Before handing out the cheque, the general manager advised the winner to open a bank account and invest in an agro-pastoral project, which could secure his retirement.
Finally, Martial Djimbi Makoundi invited all bettors to keep on playing, because Cogelo was not "magic", according to him, but "a game of probabilities" instead. He seized the opportunity to thank bettors in general and to those who had renewed their confidence in Cogelo in particular since he was appointed at the head of the company. Confidence is back for sure, because all jackpots are publically paid to ensure bettors that "the Cogelo, indeed, pays the amount it writes down in its daily horse racing paper".
