
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in Brazzaville, the Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, Christian Yoka, received in audience the Ambassador of Italy to Congo, Enrico Nunziata. At the end of this audience, the Italian diplomat confided to the press the topics of discussion, including the financing of health, environment and business climate projects.
In the health sector, the Italian diplomat recalled that, during the first Italy-Africa Summit held from January 28 to 29, 2024, Congo and Italy approved the Support Program for the Republic of Congo, for the development of Integrated Health Services, for a total amount of 175 million Euros (i.e. 114 billion 792 million 513,169.60 CFA francs) for a period of 5 years. In October 2024, a Financial Convention, for an amount of 35 million Euros (i.e. 22 billion 958 million 502,633.92 CFA francs) and a Donation Agreement of 10 million Euros (i.e. 6 billion 559 million 572,181.12 CFA francs) were signed as part of this program. "We are waiting for the ratification of this Convention and this Agreement for their entry into force, so that the first disbursements can be made," reassured His Excellency Enrico Nunziata.
In the field of the Environment, it is noted that the Republic of Congo, as part of adaptation to climate change, has started discussions around possible budgetary support from the Cassa de Depositi et Prestiti (CDP) of the Republic of Italy, through its Climate Fund (Italian Climate Fund).
With regard to improving the business climate, the Italian Ambassador informed the Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio of his initiative to organize with Congo, next May in Brazzaville, an Economic Forum. "On this occasion, Italian companies will come to explore investment opportunities in Congo," said Enrico Nunziata.
