Meeting of the National Commission Executive Committee for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative

Participants prepare for the 3rd Validation of EITI-Congo implementation in July 2022

Rigobert Roger Andely, Congolese Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, and Chairman of the National Committee of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI-Congo), opened the session of the Executive Committee of the National Committee in his office in Brazzaville on Friday 13 May 2022. The meeting was attended by his colleague in charge of Hydrocarbons, Bruno Jean Richard Itoua, Vice-Chair of the EITI National Committee, and the Permanent Secretary of the EITI National Committee, Florent Michel Okoko.

 

The participants in this meeting examined, among other points, the examination of the EITI-Congo Report for the year 2020; the presentation of the Independent Administrator; the third Validation of the implementation of the EITI in the Republic of Congo; the setting up of the Validation Commission; and the work plan of the National Committee for 2021-2022.

 

Speaking to press men, the 2nd Vice-Chairman, Bruno Jean Richard Itoua, said that ‘’the 2020 EITI-Congo Report has been adopted and will contain recommendations aiming to improve the managing conditions for all the files before the drafting of the final version. We have also reviewed the establishment of a Commission to prepare the 3rd Validation which will take place in July. It is an obligation for Congo to succeed in this examination...’’.

Another meeting is scheduled for Monday 16 May 2022, during which the Report on the project ‘’Understanding State oil revenues and sales in the Republic of Congo through financial modelling’’ will be reviewed.
