On Thursday, February 8, 2018, the Ministry of Finance and Budget (represented by Mr. Attali Mopaya, Telecommunication tax and digital economy Adviser) and the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Digital Economy (represented by Mr. Henri Yandza Mouele, Reform Adviser) co-held a meeting in Brazzaville for the introduction and exchange on the future payment system .
The presentation was intended for the bank, finance and digital economy sectors actors and made by CEO Martin Grunewald and a business development specialist, Cookie Guy Rene Mbuya, two experts from the South-African BankServAfrica specialized in electronic payments.
It was an opportunity for the participants to get knowledge on the connection of traditional payment means (payment with a card, payment in real time, mobile transaction payment , cross-border payment...) and innovative ones (block chain, without any contact, biometric...)
The future payment system provides the interconnection of all payment systems. The following are concerned: banks and financial institutions , mobile phone companies, money transfer companies and any other company which suggests a means of payment. In other words, it will be about to achieve all services interoperability and levelling. One of the feature of the future payment system will also be the speed of transactions. This will enable to reduce the payment cost as compared to the traditional system.
To this end, Congo will have not only to set the objectives of the process of modernization of the payment system, but also to set the criteria so as to adapt to change.
Yet, the new payment system must not make us overlook the need to have foolproof devices so that it develops in Congo.
