The chairman of the Central African Financial Market Surveillance Committee (COSUMAF), ambassador Nagoum Yamassoum, was granted an audience, Thursday, September 19, 2019 in Brazzaville, by The Congolese Minister of Finance and Budget, Calixte Nganongo.
The purpose of this visit was both to prepare the next statutory meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Central African Monetary Union (UMAC) to be held on 2 October 2019 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and the status of the merger of the two Central African stocks exchange (DSX S.A of Douala-Cameroun and BVMAC of Libreville-Gabon).
“This merger has been effective since 4 July 2019. After this merger phase, it is now time to move on to the second phase, which conisists in making these two structures more dynamic. We have taken stock with the Ministers of Finance of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), to obtain their guidelines”.
As a reminder, during his visit to Brazzaville in March 2019, Ambassador Nagoum Yamassoum called on CEMAC Member States to subscribe to the financial market in order to fund their development activities. Unfortunately, seven (7) months later, this call was not fully followed, Nagoum Yamassoum said. “This visit allows us to launch, once again, this call”, he concluded.
