01 Jul, 2025

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in Brazzaville, Christian Yoka, Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, Monetary Authority, paid a working visit to the General Management of the Banque Postale du Congo (PBC).

This visit began with a discussion with the management staff of this state-owned banking structure. On this occasion, Minister Christian Yoka attended a presentation of the bank by Calixte Médard Tabangoli, its Managing Director, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors (Chairman of the Board of Directors), Philippe Andely.

Founded in October 2012, the Banque Postale du Congo began its operations in January 2013. Its primary objective is financial inclusion and financing of the Congolese economy. It currently has 102,808 customers, distributed as follows: 98,924 individual customers; 3,337 SME/SMI (Small and Medium Enterprises/Small and Medium Industries); and 547 large corporate customers.

With an estimated capital of 25 billion CFA francs, it has 525 agents and 37 branches located throughout the country.

Despite its encouraging figures, La Banque Postale du Congo is experiencing some difficulties. These include, for example, logistical and infrastructure constraints; limited cash flow; and difficulties in recovering certain receivables.

According to the Bank's Managing Director, these recovery difficulties are mainly due to the fact that some customers, who benefit from the Bank's loans, change their Payment Methods (MDR), in flagrant violation of the Banking Regulations.

Among its ambitions, BPC is considering creating a banking group; To implement a prepaid Visa card, called Bomengo; To launch international trade finance and trading; To strengthen and support leasing activities and the Kimia Development investment fund.

After interactive discussions with the BPC management staff, Minister Christian Yoka then visited the General Directorate. Indeed, department by department, office by office, the Monetary Authority of Congo learned about the working conditions of the staff.

It should be noted that this visit by Minister Christian Yoka to the BPC came three months after his previous visits to all the financial authorities and a few other directorates under his supervision.
