Jean-Pierre Nonault gets first contact with private bankers

Jean-Pierre Nonault, Director General of National Financial Institutions (DGIFN), under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, had a contact session on Thursday 20 January 2022 in Brazzaville, with the Directors General of private banks established in Congo. 

During the meeting, Jean Pierre Nonault, unveiled his new policy of rapprochement with private banks, in order to revive communication and strengthen collaboration between his Administration and private financial institutions.

‘’As the technical body which assists the Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, Rigobert Roger Andely, and the main interlocutor of taxepayers, we have scheduled several meetings. The objective of these meetings is to establish a diagnosis of the private finance sector, with a view to identifying problems and finding appropriate solutions with the participation of all private financial institutions. These meetings are programmed on the basis of a calendar comprising four phases, namely: first phase, contact, from 20 January to 3 February; second phase, working visits by the DGIFN technical teams to the financial institutions of the place, from 8 to 22 February; third phase, meetings with the associations (APEC, APEMF, APSACO and the Consumers' Association), from 1 to 15 March 2022. These meetings will focus on the following themes: Overall presentation of sectors (balance sheet situation, prudential standards, assets, risks and prospects; exchanges on the concerns of the taxpayers; exchanges on the concerns of the DGIFN; compliance with the regulation on consumer protection; financial inclusion; electronic money and the bank of the future; introduction to the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) The fourth phase of the calendar will be devoted to organising  the restitution meeting of the activities of the DGIFN and the taxpayers, on 29 March 2022, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio’’, the speaker said.

The DGIFN took advantage of this contact to remind his interlocutors of the terms of Decree No. 2010-561 of 3 August 2010, on the powers and organisation of his institution.
