On Monday, July 4, 2022 in Brazzaville, Jean Pierre Nonault, Director General of National Financial Institutions (DGIFN), representing Rigobert Roger Andely, Congolese Minister of Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, opened the proceedings of the seminar for insurance supervisors from the 16 Member States of the Insurance Markets Inter-African Conference (CIMA).
Organized by the International Insurance Institute (IIA), these meetings are placed under the theme: ‘’the control of consistency and relevance of the financial statements of insurance companies by the National Insurance Directorates (DNA)’’.
In his opening remarks, Jean Pierre Nonaulta recalled that ‘’the International Institute of Insurance is specialized in the training of insurance executives and technicians for the needs of insurance companies and supervisory authorities in each Member State’’. Adding that during these five days of work, the participants will certainly have ‘’to examine the new approaches on the control, in fine to ensure the stability of the financial system, which constitutes, undoubtedly, the barometer of the state of health of an insurer and of the good functioning of our Institute’’.
The participants came from the 16 member countries of CIMA, namely: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Comoros, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
CIMA was established on July 10, 1992 from the ashes of the International Conference of Insurance Supervisors (CICA). Its headquarters are based in Libreville, Gabon, and the International Insurance Institute is located in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
