The National Economic and Financial Committee met in ordinary session, Friday, November 24, 2023, at the headquarters of the National Directorate of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Brazzaville, under the chairmanship of Mr. Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Minister of Economy and Finance. This session was attended by Ms. Ingrid Olga Ghislaine Ebouka-Babackas, Minister of Planning, Statistics and Regional Integration; of MM. Ludovic Ngatsé, Minister of Budget, Public Accounts and Public Portfolio, Mr. Michel Dzombala, Vice-Governor of the BEAC, and Marcel Ondelé, Deputy Secretary General of the Central African Banking Commission (COBAC).

Closing of the IMF technical mission to Brazzaville

Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Brazzaville, Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Congolese Minister of Economy and Finance, received the end of technical mission report from the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by the Togolese Roland Kpodar. This mission spent 14 days in Congo, to finalize the collection of data relating to the fourth review of the Program supported by the Extended Credit Facility (ECF), signed in January 2022.

Opening of the CEMAC International Investor Week (SIIC) in Brazzaville

Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo, is hosting, for the first time, the CEMAC (Central African Economic and Monetary Community-SIIC) International Investor Week. This meeting, which is in its third edition, takes place from Thursday October 5 to Saturday October 7, 2023. The work was opened, Friday October 6, by Jean-Baptiste Ondaye, Congolese Minister of Economy and Finance, having to alongside Jacqueline Adiaba-Nkembé, President of the Central African Financial Market Supervisory Commission (COSUMAF).

Board of Directors of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC)

According to the press release, on the economic and financial situation of the member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) in 2023 and the short-term outlook, the situation of foreign exchange reserves and the update on repatriation currencies, it appears that “in a context of slowdown in global economic activity and persistence of inflationary pressures, the Board of Directors has taken note of the risks weighing on the economic prospects of CEMAC. He urged member states and the BEAC to continue reforms aimed at strengthening the potential growth of the Zone and bringing inflation below the community standard of 3%.
